US President Donald Trump has issued presidential pardons to businessman Adam Kidan, a former associate of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, and Texas businessman Jack Harvard. The pardons are part of a series of executive clemency actions announced by the White House.

Adam Kidan was previously convicted in connection with a business fraud case involving the purchase of a fleet of casino ships. His conviction drew national attention because of his business ties to former Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Jack Harvard, meanwhile, also received a full presidential pardon following a review of his case.

The White House said the pardons were granted under the president’s constitutional authority after considering legal recommendations and the individuals’ circumstances. Supporters argue that presidential clemency provides deserving individuals with a second chance after serving their sentences, while critics contend that such decisions often attract political scrutiny.

Presidential pardons erase the legal consequences of federal convictions but do not necessarily determine innocence or guilt. The latest clemency decisions have generated renewed debate over the use of presidential pardon powers in the United States.
