Nearly 24 years after the murder of senior advocate and former Lucknow Bar Association president Indra Dev Singh, a special CBI court has sentenced three men to life imprisonment.

The verdict marks the end of one of Uttar Pradesh’s longest-running criminal cases and brings a significant legal conclusion to a decades-old murder investigation.

The judgment was delivered in the presence of Singh’s daughter, Noida Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, and his widow, both of whom attended the court proceedings. Indra Dev Singh was shot dead in broad daylight in 2001, a crime that shocked the legal fraternity and sparked demands for justice.

Following an extensive investigation and a lengthy trial, the court found the accused guilty of murder and related offences. The verdict has been welcomed by the victim’s family, who described it as justice after years of perseverance. The case highlights the importance of judicial persistence and reinforces confidence that serious crimes can ultimately be punished, even after decades.
